Device or Parts Selection

Given a set of selection criteria or design conditions and a list of devices or parts with their capacity or constraint data, the application determines the complying devices or parts. This initial problem becomes more complex by adding specific requirements:

• The user may enter the selection criteria, but they also may be the result of a calculation from another program.
• The capacity or constraints data may come from a database. It may require another program to enter or change these data.
• Finding the list of complying devices or parts may be the first step. It may be necessary to represent the data graphically or show specific data about the selected devices or parts.
• To get dynamic responses, the selection calculation must execute each time the user changes the selection criteria. Such an approach helps the user to get a better insight into the selection process.
• The selection calculation may also display a list of non-complying devices, together with the reason why.

 Some example projects:

• Select the optimal heat exchanging ventilation device, given a required airflow, indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Select the optimal set of chiller devices, given the kind of application, the temperature range, the refrigerant and the required capacity.
• Select air conditioning devices in a room, given the heat and cool loads.
• Create a quotation for air conditioning systems for residential applications.
